The governments behavioural insights team have been carefully studying human behaviour for decades, and have been advising the government exactly how to manipulate the general public into compliance without them even realising they have been manipulated.
Gaslighting is a manipulation tactic used to gain power, and it works all too well. Anyone is susceptible to gaslighting and it is a common technique of abusers, dictators, narcissists and cult leaders. It is done slowly, so that the victim doesn’t realise how much they have been brainwashed.
The government are clearly gaslighting the public.
11 warning signs of gaslighting:
1 – They tell blatant lies
The lies are blatant to set a precedent. Once they’ve told the huge lie, you don’t know if anything they go on to say is true, which keeps you unsteady and off kilter.
2 – They deny they ever said something, even though you have proof
This makes you question your reality and start to accept the reality of their abuser. (new normal)
There is an abundance of video footage of government officials saying face masks are useless and unnecessary, but they have now mandated them like it never happened.
3 – They use what is near and dear to you as ammunition
They know that the most important thing to most people is family and self identity. Note how the first thing the government did was to keep families apart. Do not visit grandma, do not let cousins play together, stay in your home and stay away from other family members. Then came the attack on self identity via mandatory face coverings. Face coverings are dehumanising and silencing. Face coverings are are a great propaganda tool, a constant reminder of the ‘deadly virus’ and also a great way of building and assessing levels of compliance.
4 – They wear you down over time
Gaslighting is done gradually over time, it’s the frog in the cooking pot analogy, it doesn’t realise it’s being cooked until the water reaches boiling point and by that time it’s too late. We were told in March, just 3 weeks to flatten the curve, now 7 months later, restrictions are getting even more draconian and people are at breaking point.
5 – Their actions do not match their words
When dealing with an entity that gaslights, look what they are doing rather than what they are saying. We are told that we must wear a face covering, don’t gather in groups of more than 6, and keep a 2m distance from others, yet members of parliament have been caught out breaking the rules time and time again. This can also be seen where their message was clearly ‘protect the NHS’ and even encouraged people to clap for them, whilst effectively closing the the majority of the service down under our noses.
6 – They throw in positive reinforcement to confuse you
The entity that is bringing you down and making you feel worthless is now praising something you did, which adds a sense of unease. It makes you think ‘perhaps they aren’t that bad’ but look at what they are praising you for, it’s is likely something that served the gaslighter. The government cannot praise us enough that we all stayed home as instructed, they are pleased that we lost our livelihoods and made them billions of pounds.
7 – They know confusion weakens people
Gaslighters know that people like having a sense of stability and normalcy. Their goal is to uproot this and make you constantly question everything. A humans natural tendency is to look to the gaslighter to help them feel more stable. This is what we are seeing with the governments ridiculous ‘rules’, people don’t understand them and can’t keep up so they constantly look to the government for direction, now unable to think for themselves.
8 – They project
Whatever they are doing wrong, they will accuse their victim of doing just that, it’s done so often that you start to defend yourself, rather than look at the gaslighters behaviour. This can be seen when the government say we have been mixing too much, not following the rules, people aren’t wearing their face coverings, when in fact it is them who do not follow the rules (because they know how ridiculous and unnecessary they are)
9 – They try to align people against you
Gaslighters are masters at manipulation and good at finding people they know will stand by them, and use these people against you. The government have used this technique to keep civil unrest within communities and the majority of the public have fallen for it. They berate those who ‘break the rules’ and encourage their neighbours (government supporters) to turn them in, grass them up, even approach them in the street and give them abuse. A classic case of divide and rule.
10 – They tell others that you are crazy
This is one of the most effective tools of the gaslighter, because its dismissive. They know if they question your sanity, people will not believe you when you tell them the gaslighter is abusive and controlling. You can see this happening with the government now, accusing people who question their narrative of being uncaring, selfish, crazy conspiracy theorists, anti this that and the other, and even psychopathic.
11 – They tell you everyone else is a liar
By telling you everyone else is a liar, it again makes you question your reality. It’s a manipulation technique which makes people turn to the gaslighter for the ‘correct information’ This is happening on social media where free speech is no longer allowed. Anyone who speaks against the narrative is dismissed and silenced, whatever their profession, expertise, social standing or experience. We are told not to believe these people without fair debate.
The more you are aware of these techniques, the quicker you can identify them and avoid falling into the gaslighters (government’s) trap.
